Description

A refreshing Peach Iced Tea recipe featuring homemade peach syrup made with pureed peaches, sweetened with sugar and honey, and brewed tea. Perfect for a cool, fruity beverage ideal for warm days, served over ice with frozen peaches for extra flavor and chill.

Ingredients

Scale

Tea

  • 4 cups water
  • 1 family size tea bag

Peach Syrup

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups frozen peaches, thawed and pureed (or 2 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced)

For Serving

  • 2 cups frozen peaches (do not thaw; if using fresh peaches, slice and freeze on parchment lined pan until ready to serve)
  • Ice cubes as needed

Instructions

  1. Boil Water: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil on the stovetop to prepare the tea base.
  2. Steep Tea: Remove the boiling water from heat, add the family size tea bag, and steep for 5 minutes to extract flavor.
  3. Transfer Tea: Pour the brewed tea into a 2-quart pitcher and set it aside to cool slightly.
  4. Make Peach Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine 3/4 cup sugar, 3/4 cup honey, and 1 cup of water. Bring this mixture to a boil while stirring until the sugar fully dissolves.
  5. Add Peaches: Stir in the pureed peaches and return to a low boil briefly, then remove from heat and allow the syrup to cool.
  6. Strain Syrup: Pour the cooled syrup through a mesh sieve into a small bowl, pressing on the peach pulp to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the leftover peach solids.
  7. Mix Peach Tea: Add the peach syrup to the brewed tea incrementally, tasting as you go until you reach your desired sweetness, typically 1 to 2 cups syrup added to 4 cups tea.
  8. Prepare to Serve: Divide the frozen peaches among 4 glasses, fill with ice cubes, and pour the peach tea over the peaches and ice.
  9. Storage: Store any unused peach syrup in the refrigerator for future use.

Notes

  • Using frozen peaches works well and makes this recipe accessible year-round, providing delicious flavor even without fresh peaches.
  • Leftover tea and syrup should be stored in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.
  • Fresh peaches can be frozen ahead of time by slicing and freezing on a parchment-lined pan, making it easy to prepare this drink anytime.
  • Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of syrup added to the tea according to your taste preference.
