hey there!
Hey, I'm Becky!
I'm Becky Turner, the creator behind BeckyBites.com. I'm a home cook, food blogger, and Southern food enthusiast based in Franklin, Tennessee, and I'm passionate about sharing the comforting, soul-satisfying recipes that bring families together around the table.
My Culinary Journey
For the past 17 years, I've been perfecting the art of Southern home cooking—the kind of food that makes your house smell like home and keeps people coming back for seconds. I'm a self-taught cook who learned by doing, making mistakes, and most importantly, by feeding the people I love at countless family gatherings, church events, and Sunday suppers.
While I'm largely self-taught, I've invested in my craft by attending numerous baking workshops over the years. These classes helped me refine my techniques for biscuits, pies, cakes, and breads—the foundation of Southern baking that I'm known for. There's something deeply satisfying about pulling a perfectly golden biscuit or a bubbling fruit cobbler from the oven, and those workshops gave me the confidence to master these classics.
Before dedicating myself to food blogging full-time, I worked as a church event coordinator, where I planned and executed countless potlucks, holiday meals, and community gatherings. That experience taught me how to cook for crowds, coordinate complex menus, manage timing for multiple dishes, and most importantly, understand what recipes truly resonate with people. When you've seen a casserole disappear in minutes or watched people line up for your banana pudding, you know you've got a winner.
Why I Started BeckyBites
I launched BeckyBites.com in 2016 because I wanted to preserve and share the recipes that define Southern home cooking. As someone who regularly cooks for large extended family gatherings, I've spent years perfecting dishes that can feed a crowd, travel well to potlucks, and earn requests for "the recipe." I realized these tried-and-true recipes needed a home where other home cooks could find them.
What started as a collection of family favorites has grown into over 800 recipes, all tested in my Franklin kitchen and perfected through years of cooking for the people I love most.
